The Desert is the first, original map in the game and is dominated by endless stretches of sand, punctuated by rocks and occasional structures like abandoned shacks and gas stations, that contain crucial items, food, weapons and car parts; vital for survival of the player as resources are sparse in the desert and players need to manage their fuel efficiently and utilize the terrain to their advantage, making scavenging a key aspect of the desert. There are also certain events that happen occasionally.
